The JCC on the Cohn Campus offers a multi-faceted summer camp program which is located on the Maureen and Douglas Cohn Jewish Community Campus in North Tampa.  JCC Summer Camp offers campers a fun and interactive day-camp experience, coupled with exploration of Jewish heritage and culture.

It's a new day at Camp J! Camp J offers a multitude of incredible specialty camps as well as a phenomenal signature camp that will help your children develop a range of skills in a fun and supportive environment. Our goal is for every child to have a meaningful experience at Camp J by having them do it their way. You can mix and match your camper’s summer experiences between specialty and signature camps throughout the summer!  Our supportive and well trained staff will strive to ensure that your child feels at home regardless of camp or location. Camp JCC encourages diversity and welcomes campers of all backgrounds regardless or race, faith or national origin.

Grades

Camp J accommodates campers entering kindergarten through eighth grade, choices are grade specific.  

 

Dates & Times

Camp J will run June 4 – August 3, 2018. Drop off is at 9 am, pick up at 4 pm, with extended hours available from 7:30 am–6 pm.

Signature Camp at the JCC on the Cohn Campus

Nestled in a natural and rustic setting, Camp JCC provides a day camping experience like no other day camp in the area. Camp JCC offers (3) three-week sessions and or a full summer option. Our goal  is to promote a sense of community and belonging for all of our campers. Throughout the summer, your camper will enjoy programming run by our specialists, field trips, under/overnights and spirit days.

Rishon (First Beginnings)

Rising Kindergarten

Rishon is designed just for children entering Kindergarten. It offers children a chance to be a part of an authentic, “big kid” camp experience within the safety of a nurturing unit all their own. Campers will have instructional swim daily as well as experience their first undernight and camp field trip.

Athletics  

All children will be exposed to a variety of individual and team sports. Group games specifically geared to their appropriate age group. Classes are taught and overseen by an Athletic Director.

Etgar (Challenge) Activities     

Etgar ensures that all of our campers have a challenging outdoor experience over the course of the summer. Some of the activities offered include:

Arts & Culture Activities

Campers will have the opportunity to take part in many artistic programs, to help mold their creative minds and ideas.  Programs which will be offered include:

Aquatics (Swimming)      

All campers will enjoy our full-sized heated pool daily (weather permitting).  Sabras will swim several times a week depending on their travel schedule.

 

Instructors and lifeguards are certified and trained to ensure your child’s enjoyment and safety. At the beginning   of the program, each child will be placed in a swim group according to skill level.  During swim, instructors will focus on swimming ability and stroke development.

Forms   

Upon receipt of your non-refundable down payment and completed registration online you will receive a parent packet including an Emergency Medical Authorization, Personal History Form and other forms. We want to stress the importance of you being forthright with information regarding your camper that will help us to create the best possible environment for him or her. All forms are confidential and will only be shared with staff if determined by the Camp Director to be necessary. These forms MUST be returned to the camp office no later than May 1, 2018.

Transportation

Transportation to and from the Campus is currently available from the Irving Cohen Center at Congregation Rodeph Sholom. There is limited space available. Seats will be filled as registrations come in. If you would like siblings to ride together, please indicate that on the registration form.

Extended Camper Care

Pre- & post-camp extended care is available to all campers from 7:30am - 9am and from 4pm - 6pm.

Any camper under the age of 12 who requires pre- and/or post-camp extended care and is not enrolled in our year-round Club J program must register in the Extended Camper Care program and pay the additional fee.

 

“Chugim” Program

During Extended Camper Care, we’re offering our “Chugim” Program.  Each day, the children will choose between two designated enrichment classes, such as science, origami, pottery, sports and more. This special program is included within our Extended Camper Care fee.

Group Placement

You will have an opportunity to request a group mate for your camper and we will guarantee one mutual group mate request as long as both group mates are of the same age and are attending the same session.

T-Shirts               

Each camper will receive one Camp JCC t-shirt. Additional shirts are also available for purchase. Order forms will be in your camp packet and MUST be returned no later than May 1, 2018.

It is our mission to promote self-esteem, positive values, personal growth, and a strong Jewish identity in addition to fostering spiritual and personal growth through learning new skills, interacting with others, and planting the seeds to establish lifelong friendships and memories.

Your child will also benefit from well-trained, qualified staff who are dedicated to the nurturing and personal growth of each camper in their care. All staff members participate in extensive and thorough training to prepare them for their specific role at camp.
